Trout: Good on peach salmon eggs or Berkley natural garlic trout bait on #14 treble hooks, fluorescent orange power trout worm on #10 gold hooks or silver Terminator in-line spinners. (We have the full line of Berkley trout baits in stock)! 

CANYON LAKE - Updated 01/29/10

Please Note:  Due to low water elevations, only the following boat ramps are open: #1 Canyon Lake Village, #2 Canyon Lake Village West, #6 Canyon Lake Hills 1 East, #8 Canyon Springs Resort, #9 Cranes Mill Marina, #12 Canyon Lake Yacht Club, #14 Jacobs Creek Park 1, #15 Jacobs Creek Park 2, #17 Little Jacobs Creek, #19 Canyon Park Marina, #20 Potter's Creek Park East and #21 Potter's Creek Park West. The courtesy boat dock at ramps #20 and #21 are closed. Fishing pier at Potter's Creek is open. Cranes Mill Park and fishing pier are closed for renovations. For further updates, please call the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Canyon Lake office at 830-964-3342. Please boat safely and always remember to wear your life jacket!

Largemouth Bass:  Fair to 4 lbs. early slow rolling shad 3/4 oz. Revenge deep diver spinnerbaits over deep structures in 20-30 feet and later on whacky rigged trophy hunter Grande Bass baby rattlesnakes on main lake and secondary points in 5-20 feet.

Smallmouth Bass:  Good to 3 lbs. on green pumpkin 1/4 oz. Berkley Ike's finesse jigs with sprayed grass Reaction Innovations smallie beaver trailers, trophy hunter Grande Bass baby rattlesnakes and watermelon red River2Sea Stand'n Yabbie 50 over rock piles and along bluffs in 12-20 feet.

White Bass:  Fair trolling Texas shad Luhr Jensen baby hot lips in back of coves or at the mouth of the river and vertically jigging gold 1/4 oz. KT spoons or black shad 2" Berkley power minnows on main lake points in 10-30 feet.

Crappie:  Fair on chartreuse crappie jigs tipped with live minnows around brush piles and submerged trees off main lake points and upriver in 4-6 feet.

Striped Bass:  Fair trolling shad Rapala Trolls-To-20 shad raps or ghost bass Strike Pro flex phantoms, vertically jigging chartreuse/silver 1-1/2 oz. Terminator pirk minnows or perch Bagley jigging minnows on main lake points and drifting hybrid bluegill or shad around the dam at night in 15-20 feet.

Perch:  Fair on red worms.

Channel Catfish:  Fair on Lewis Selects catfish bait or Big Marv's cheese bait in 6-20 feet.

Blue and Yellow Catfish:  Fair on trotlines and juglines baited with hybrid bluegill or shad gizzard in 10-30 feet.

CHOKE CANYON

Water Clarity: Stained  Water Temp: 56 degrees  Current Level: 211.40 (Conservation Pool: 220.50 ft. msl)

Largemouth Bass:  Fair to 4 lbs. early slow rolling pearl River2Sea buzzbaits or white 3/4 oz. Revenge spinnerbaits in 15-25 feet or whacky rigged mardi gras 7" Yum Dingers on edge of grass in 15-20 feet and cranking sexy shad 3/4 oz. Luhr-Jensen Hot Lips Express or sexy shad Norman DD22 over deep structures and on main lake points in 12-25 feet. Also good on plain Jane 5" Lake Fork flutter spoons with watermelon candy red 10" Zoom Ole Monster worm trailers in 20-50 feet.

White Bass:  Fair vertically jigging chartreuse shad Berkley power minnows on a 1/8 oz. jig head or trolling shad Rapala (SR-5) shad rap upriver around the Hwy 99 Bridge.

Crappie:  Good on chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs tipped with live minnows over brush piles and standing timber upriver in 4-12 feet. 

Channel and Blue Catfish: Fair on Lewis Selects catfish bait, Big Marv's cheese bait and shad gizzards in 6-20 feet.

Yellow Catfish:  Fair on trotlines baited with perch or cut shad in 10-30 feet.

LAKE AMISTAD

Water Clarity: Stained Water Temp: 56 degrees Current Level: 1115.04 ft./339.865 meters (Conservation Pool: 1117.00 ft. msl)

Largemouth Bass:  Fair to 6 lbs. on shad 7" Storm Kickin sticks or slow rolling white 1-1/4 oz. deep running spinnerbait over grass, flipping crawdad 1 oz. Berkley football head jigs and Big Texan Reaction Innovations double wide beavers on off shore structures or main lake points in 20-40 feet. Also good on magic shad 6" Lake Fork flutter spoons with watermelon candy red Zoom Super Fluke trailers in 20-50 feet.

White Bass:  Good vertically jigging chrome Tony Accetta spoons on main lake points or in back of coves.

Striped Bass: Good trolling silver Rapala Trolls-To-20 shad raps or drifting hybrid bluegills by the dam in 10-30 feet.

Catfish:  Fair on Lewis Selects catfish bait, live perch and shad in 6-30 feet.
